9 Months – The journey of a woman
Every moment in a woman’s life is
challenging yet she takes it up and completes it successfully. The journey from
her birth till her last breathe is filled with load of ups and downs. She has
to obey every relation she is committed to in her life be it a role as a
daughter, a wife, a sister, a mother, a daughter in law or a sister in law.
With all these commitment there is one relationship which she would love to
cherish the moments for lifetime i.e. “Being a mother and the journey from day
one of conceiving till she delivers her baby”. They say that we don’t have to
be a mother to feel all these moments because it's a god’s gift for every woman in
this Universe. The stage of being a mother is something which every woman would
love to go through.
"Whether your pregnancy was meticulously planned, medically coaxed, or happened by surprise, one thing is certain – your life will never be the same."
The day she gets to know that she has conceived that would be the best day of
her life. Am sure each one of us would break the news first to that individual
who gave us the privilege of being a mother "Our husband", then with your mother
and in laws. The food cravings, the mood swings, the excitement, the care, the
blush, the pain, the tears and much more would all be seen in her. These 9
months in her life are something which she would never forget nor would like to
forget.
The first time when she gets to know that the home test is positive you can
find a tear rolling down her cheeks and the first person she finds to hug and
express this is of course her husband. Though the home test is positive she
would still want to get a confirmation clinically. Once that is
done and she has the report in her hands which say "Pregnancy Test: POSITIVE"
would be like her dream come true. She would next rush to her gynecologist for further opinion.
"A
baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three
years, and in your heart until the day you die."
The next sweet moment to admire or cherish would be when she goes for her first scan. The doctor shows her the scan and tells her to see that living thing which is growing in her womb for the first time is none other than her baby and when the doctor says you can also hear the heartbeat of the baby; the happiness, the smile, the cries is worth a watch and worth to capture. After her scan she makes a list of what to eat, what not to
eat, what to read, what she would like to listen, what to wear and many more to
pen. Step by step she becomes conscious of every single thing happening in her
life and around her too. The first few months what not she goes through like
morning sickness, fatigue, hates particular fragrance, mood swings etc still
never cribs about them. But every mother has this fear till she delivers the
baby because a tiny to tiny miss can change things drastically.
Every day she looks at herself in the mirror and thinks how much she has put on
weight, is there a glow on her face, is she looking good in the dress she is
wearing, is her baby bump seen, how would she look with her baby bump……..
Phewwwww!!!!!! She would try and avoid travel, avoid bending or lifting any
heavy items just to see through that her bundle of joy is safe. During these 9
months she loves to her herself pampered and enjoy all the focus she gets from
others including her husband :p
As days go she can see lot of changes in her and around her. The way people
would treat her at work, at home or any place she walks because even the people
around her would be more careful when she is around. They say that you need to
have a positive energy around you during these 9 months as it would be good for
you and the baby too. People come up with various ideas to keep you busy,
various ways to keep you happy and smiling always, various suggestions. During
these 9 months her mother plays a vital role in her life by talking to her
every day, asking her day to day updates and suggesting her on what she needs
to do and what she needs to avoid. And every daughter would love to talk to her
mother about this as she feels safe and feels like she has someone with her at
any given point of time. The number of trips she visits the doctor’s clinic
might be many during this time because she would not want any tiny to tiny
thing harming the baby.
The time when she feels the first movement and the first kick of her baby is
something to be captured. The smile, the excitement, the anxiety, the
expression is worth capturing because that is something she would be waiting
for from the time she has ever known about her pregnancy, though these kicks and
moves would be common sometime later till she delivers. But that first feel of the movement
and the kick is something which she would never forget especially if it is her
first baby. She would have a schedule of her regular check-ups with her gynecologist to check on the growth of her baby and how well is she taking
care of herself and her baby too. And am sure every visit to the doctor she can feel her
heart beating faster than always till she hears her doctor say, “Don’t worry
everything is fine”.
Every woman
who has given birth to a child would have at least one or more books on either
saying Things to do during pregnancy or a guide to pregnancy or things to do to
have a healthy baby. Whatever it might be but she would do as all possible research to keep herself and her baby healthy. As days go she can see
her baby bump growing bigger and she can feel her belly get in her way no
matter what she wants to do. Yet she would never give up because she has her
world growing in her womb and she would whatever she can to give birth.
With all
these day to day routine in her life there is one more moment which she would
love to capture that would be her baby shower. She would want to dress up the
same way as she had dressed up on that special day of her life “Her Wedding” because this day would also be as special as her wedding day with the only difference being on her wedding she would be welcoming a new individual into her life rather to be a part of her life but this time it would be her and her husband who would be welcoming the baby into their lives. The baby shower is a place where she would be blessed by each one and congratulates
her at the same time. With all this going around there is something else she
would be excited about, which is she gets to spend the rest
of her days till she delivers at her mother’s place. “What more would a girl
want?” Staying at her mother’s place is something she would love to do is
because even she knows that her mother understands her the most than anyone
else in this world and she would take care of all those requirements which she
wants during those 9 months.
Days nearing
to her due date would be much much challenging as there are too many things
running in her mind. Every second she would feel her heart beating faster as
she knows she might enter the labor room any second. She can feel her back
aching, she would have sleepless nights and many more signs when her due date
is nearing. More than her she would be worried about her baby. She would have
her bags packed with all those immediate requirements.
They say, "Mothers and daughters are closest when daughters become mothers".
And finally
when that day arrives where she can find herself in the labor room that is
another moment in her life she would never forget. It is a lifetime memory for
her. She finds herself lying on bed with pain trying to push, she can hear the
doctors talking about how she is doing, what needs to be done next, how is the
baby doing, can she have a normal delivery or does she need to go through a
C-Section. She tries her level best because she know this might be a temporary
pain she is going through and this would be nothing when compared to the bundle
of joy she would have in her hands any given point of time. Along with her excitement
she finds fear walking hand in hand as she is worried about her
baby.
And finally
when she has her bundle of joy in her hands that is the final moment she or
anyone around her would capture during the journey of 9 months towards motherhood. You can find a tear rolling down her cheeks looking at her baby and she would see the
same reaction on her husband's face too because this baby has changed the entire relationship between a husband and wife. They would no more be just a husband
and wife now they would also be a proud parent of their baby. This baby would
turn their relationship and bonding even more stronger than they ever thought of.......
“Babies are bits of star-dust blown from the hand of God.
Lucky is the woman who knows the pangs of birth for she has held a star.” –
